Enjoyment, Phenomena & Oneness

Enjoy. Enjoy life and all of its infinite dimensions. Enjoy the mystery, enjoy the grind, enjoy the pain, enjoy the peace, enjoy the love, enjoy the sorrow, enjoy the learning, just let go and enjoy – every experience is a part of the ONE. The one undercurrent of life that pervades every human being, every THING; the source from which all things arise.

This oneness is always there and accessible to us when we are simply being – no agenda, but rather doing without the sense of a doer. Allow the subject, object relationship to dissolve. Then you are left with simply seeing, tasting, touching, hearing and smelling without a self that does all these things. The self is only alive in the past and the future. The now is devoid of self, and the now is the only thing that is real. What we experience is known as phenomenology – the nature of phenomena.

Interestingly neuroscience and philosophy are combining in new and exciting ways to understand the nature of consciousness and phenomenological experiences. If I meditate on this area of epistemology, I arrive at some conclusions. This area should be delved into as there are bound to be some exciting and unique discoveries and processes; however, we must be aware that the investigation of experience will never understand that which is experienced.

Take the word water. Can you drink it, drown in it, shower in it? How about the word fire – can you get heated by it or burnt by it?

This is the pitfall of the spiritual path. Every great sage has had to accept the fact that the truth cannot be spoken of directly, cannot be taught directly but only indirectly in hopes, these methods provide the right environment for an individual to experience Truth. Even then, Truth is experienced differently for many people, and God only knows why, but I postulate that this is because we are all living out different personal legends[1] and are at different levels of consciousness[2].

Set aside 5 minutes today, to meditate on how much joy you experience, the nature of what all that you experience and the potential one essence that unifies all things.

Love & Blessings

[1] I discovered the term personal legends in Paulo Coelho’s Alchemist. It refers to our life purpose.

[2] I am not the only person who believes there are different levels of consciousness – Ken Wilber is a famous example.
